Westhoughton is blessed with two drama groups who regularly put on some quite outstanding shows – and right on your doorstep.
Without doubt, these amateur groups work hard, and are particularly important in giving local youngsters a chance to develop their talents before, who knows, fame and fortune beckons! So please, give your support.
It's Panto Time! The latest and 29th offering from the Westhoughton Methodist Amateur Dramatic Society. Babes in the Wood is based on the true story of two children who were left in the care of their wicked Uncle. In order to get his hands on their inheritance the Uncle paid two villains to take the Babes into a nearby wood and make sure that they didn’t come back…
In this updated version, scripted and directed by Bill Greenhalgh, Babes in the Wood is a fast moving story containing scenes of mild peril involving the oldest Babes in pantomime, a wicked Witch, an even more wicked Uncle, a handsome Prince and traditional pantomime jokes. No snakes, penguins or forty-something Babes have been harmed as part of this production. Download synopsis.
February 2010 performances take place:
Friday 12th, Saturday 13th and Friday 19th* and Saturday 20th* (curtains up 7.15pm prompt),
at the Westhoughton Methodist Church Hall on Wigan Road.

"On With The Show"Following the success of Cinderella their latest production, another of Westhoughton's very own amateur dramatic groups - The Bethel Crowd - are soon to audition and rehearsal for their next show Dazzle. Initial meeting to take place on Wednesday, 10th February. Further details about this new show and The Bethel Crowd are available on their new website.
It's great that young and old, but especially Westhoughton's children, have the opportunity to perform on stage, and maybe get the 'acting bug'.
A group that deserves your ongoing support.
