Local Interest and Community

We are devoting this section of the website to local events and things of interest...

If you are a Westhoughton based community group, learning and leisure or entertainment venue and wish to have your events listed drop us a line and we'll try to include it on the SWAN website.

Westhoughton is blessed with two drama groups who regularly put on some quite outstanding shows – and right on your doorstep.

Without doubt, these amateur groups work hard, and are particularly important in giving local youngsters a chance to develop their talents before, who knows, fame and fortune beckons! So please, give your support.

"Laughter in the Dark "

This comedy thriller, was the latest offering from the Westhoughton Methodist Amateur Dramatic Society.

A 1950s period piece and old fashioned mystery with ghostly goings on and hammy butlers. After the months of rehearsals and a short May run, Laughter in the Dark has proven to be another rip-roaring success for the amateur troupe, filling the church theatre and providing something different in entertainment for Westhoughton residents. Long may it continue!

Westhoughton Methodist Amateur Dramatic Society tend to put their tongues firmly in cheek in their shows which mix surprise and laughing, and provide a thespain outlet for young and old.

Plans for the next show are in hand - to be announced… Watch out for details of future performances and rehearsals.

The Dracular Spectacular - a recent Bethel Crowd extravaganza "On With The Show"

Following the success of recent productions, another of Westhoughton's very own amateur dramatic groups - The Bethel Crowd - are currently in rehearsals for their next show The Wizard of Oz, having just put on their annual Panto - Snow White.

It's great that young and old, but especially Westhoughton's children, have the opportunity to perform on stage, and maybe get the 'acting bug'. A group that deserves your ongoing support.

Auditons have taken place and rehearsals for the summer show have started.

Performances will take place between Saturday, 21st and Saturday, 28th June. Tickets now on sale.
